Practical guide

Checking scanned-document readability

A quick test for sharpness, edges, contrast, orientation, multi-page records, and QR codes before accountant handoff.

A file that opens is not necessarily usable. Test readability on the fields someone will actually transcribe or verify: identity, date, document number, rates, net amount, tax, and total.

Examples are synthetic. This guide helps prepare records; it does not replace review by an accountant, tax adviser, or lawyer.

The 100% zoom test

Open the result on a normal monitor at 100% zoom. If small numbers require repeated zooming or guessing, make a new scan. Artificially enlarging a blurry image cannot restore missing detail.

Edges and multiple pages

Check all four corners, table continuations, reverse pages, and attachments. For a long receipt, use overlapping photos rather than leaving a gap between shots.

QR and OCR are supporting checks

A readable QR code does not prove that the whole document is readable. OCR can confuse 0/O, 1/I, decimal separators, or signs. Compare extracted text with the image and use official eKasa verification only as supporting evidence.

Checklist

  • All corners are visible
  • Text is sharp at 100%
  • Date, number, and total are unambiguous
  • Rate and tax are readable
  • No glare or shadow covers data
  • Orientation is correct
  • All pages are included
  • QR/OCR output was compared with the image
